We've been to Fiji for some R&amp;R and to establish some business leads, up the north coast, down the south coast, down to Canberra, getting our magazine ad out!! So we're back on solid ground for a while!<br /><br />So currently my time is focused on getting a new site developed and built. Working with awesome WordPress developer <a href="http://codingkitty.com/">Jean-Baptiste Jung of Cats Who Code / Coding Kitty</a>. He is awesome and if you have a WP blog that you want to customise, or an entire site you want built highly recommend him!<br /><br />The new site has our blog built in, and will be MUCH easier for me to update both my blog and galleries. We'll be relocating in late January so everything will be up in the air then! Shereena looked so beautiful, and it was an awesome day and we had a blast!! I have made so many wonderful friends through my contact as a photographer; me being 'me' helps, and being by and large a wedding photographer has that effect too. I've been involved with one of the biggest days is so many couples' lives; its an honour and pleasure, and I'm lucky as its what I love to do!<p>Now only three weeks away, Shereena and my own big day is set to occur! Its come around scary fast, and I'm super excited about it! The Chinese heard about it also I've heard, and they seem to be throwing a party on Beijing on the same day- so nice of them!</p><p>I'll try to keep the blog updated as much as possible/ ie more than I have in the last little while. Our business is growing, and I'm adjusting to that growth- one of the things on hold right now is my new nathanrodger.com - site going live. I am testing it - some of my clients have even seen it, however my client work is my priority, then my wedding, then the rest. Some of my current clients have had a preview, and the feedback is good! It is however a very "broadband" designed site.<p>The site will be the full, wide screen experience, with slide shows built it and music! It also has full proofing functions on site with shopping cart built in! My current site is well past its use-by date so this one can't come sooner!</p><p>To add to the "newness" and to keep my road-warrior image processing running along, I just picked up the latest MacBook Pro - decked out with the 7200 RPM drive, the 2.5Ghz Core2Duo processor and very soon to house 4Gb RAM - this baby is destined to speed up my current workflow!!! I was tempted by the lighter smaller MacBook's but I rely on my machine day-in-day-out, and also run my behemoth 30" Apple Cinema display from it. I'm actually typing on it now after 3 hours of transferring info from my previous workhorse, on initial impressions - this thing flies!!!</p><p>More to come soon. The issue was a simple command that "should" have simply transferred ALL my data from MediaTemple - to - Dreamhost. I don't trust stuff like that, so I did it in stages - and most everything got transferred ok. Most everything except the biggest space-holder on my site - the proofs. Some couples book anywhere from 9-24 months from their wedding date. Bear in mind that the spring and summer seasons are very popular for weddings and book out much earlier than the colder months of the year.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>How many photographers will be there?</b></div><div>Depending on your selected package, there will be at least one photographer, with an assistant. The duties of the assistant are dependant on the day, and directed by the photographer yet may include: assisting the photographer in arranging shots, taking photos as second camera.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>How many pictures do you take on the wedding day? How many photos do I get?</b></div><div>We normally take between 1000-2000 pictures during the course of a wedding day, as each wedding is different, this is variable. We download all photos taken and review them making a selection, discarding any images are unsuitable for supply to the client (eg. blinks, sneezes, duplicate images of poses, photos out of focus etc). This is normally edited down to about 300 - 500 images.</div><div>The next step we take is to meticulously post-process each and every image, to make it its best. Amongst other things, this may include selecting certain images as black &amp; white, sepia etc.</div><div><br /></div><div>We output these as high resolution jpg format, so you can print these as big as you like, then deliver all processed images to you on DVD, thumb drive or download as per your package or preference.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>What if I lose my DVD of images?</b></div><div>We stress to all clients that after delivery of images, and archiving of images is the responsibility. However we maintain backups of images, for at least 12 months - so simply contact us, and for a small fee we can online the archive, and work with you to provide a new copy of images. Whilst we say 12 months, we actually haven't yet had to delete any clients images in the years we've been in business.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>As every wedding is different, every one has different questions. The ceremony was beautiful in the Russian Orthodox tradition. We headed over to Sydney University where both Ksenia and Ben recently completed Medicine together. The Quadrangle is a beautiful setting, and we had a social engineering exercise to be able sweet talk the security guards on the day to let us take photos in the quad.... The Uni normally charges an exorbitant price to shoot there - however It was all great fun in the end...<br /><br />The day was great, and the whole bridal party was fun to work with and a bundle of laughs! I've changed my branding and logotype a little so I'm re-branding everything right now, and am having a whole swag of business cards printed up in the next day or so. It's fun to re-design everything, and until I completley re-build my site in Flash - this will be it.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;">Apart from that my new/replacement MacBook Pro is running just dandy - and I'm editing ALL my stuff on it now and using it full time for everything now. </span><a style="font-family: verdana;" href="http://nathanrodger.blogspot.com/2006/08/so-starting-off-with-some-good-news-im.html">I kinda don't have much choice :( </a><span style="font-family:verdana;"> but I'm ok with that! Anyway - the switch has been awesome, and I love working on my Mac, to be honest I love my MBP.... This screen is breathtaking, and viewing images on it is awesome. Viewing proofs, prints and album layouts at the actual size is perfect.... I love it..</span><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;">It is of course also, and EXCELLENT screen to watch DVD's, and trailers on... Front row is really addictive and for the second time in a week - I've shown off my Mac, with the trailers screen of front-row, accessing it all via the remote.... It's Sooooo cool.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:verdana;">Anyway so the Dell might be relegated to a TV - cause you can pretty much plug anything into that bad boy. I'm booked in for a wedding for March 10th, 2007.. Woo hoo!!<br />I met with the lovely couple a few weekends ago - and they are a great pair! Well I'd met the bride to be many, many years ago... Katie's my cousin :) However I'd not met her fiance Rob before. So my girlfriend and I drove up the coast to meet them, and we had a great meeting and a spot of lunch... I'd heard a few months ago that Katie had gotten engaged, she'd heard I was a wedding photographer and wanted to meet up.... It took us that long to match our schedules! So we had a great meeting and Katie and Rob like what I do, and I've booked them in....<br />We'll be meeting up soon to do a relaxed engagment shoot and talk more about what they want to do with the wedding.<br /><br />More good news... My new replacement MacBook Pro was delivered yesterday! I cracked the box the other night and it seems that it is not a victim of the dreaded squeal! It is running like a dream and is all good - need more RAM - so that's coming soon too!!<br /><br /><br />Now the <span style="font-weight:bold;">bad</span> news... I was typing away on my Dell laptop last week, got a call from my lovely girl, and put the laptop aside... We finished talking, and I got up to put the phone on the hook - pulling the laptop by its cord to the edge of the couch!! I turned and it was all in slow motion... The laptop slipped slowly off the edge of the couch and creeped ever so slowly toward the floor... a concrete tiled floor... It hit the tiles with a massive clatter and I was like "OMG OMG OMG!!!" (all my current work and mail is on there after transferring it across from my first MBP). I put the phone on the hook, and then tended to the laptop - it was still running (woo hoo. So I shut it down and went to bed - got hone from work today, cooked dinner and booted up my Dell... Well kinda booted... it was just loading and loading and loading on the XP screen.... Nothing... Safe mode... loaded... kinda.... ALL GONE.. :( <br /><br />I stuck the drive in a USB2 caddy and - it really is the worst kind of news... It's literally all gone... Well you can see it - but copying it off? Nope - CRC error heave.. My "Pa" died last Wednesday - and today is his funeral. He was a great man - with whom I grew closer to in the last few years. I love this new notebook - it is VERY slick, and as far as I can tell so far - very fast in general!! The little things make it faster- from startup time measured in seconds, to wake from sleep in like 2 seconds, this thing flies on most everything. <br /><br />I'm hanging out for the latest Universal version of Adobe CS to take advantage of the Intel Core Duo processor - and then it should fly on Adobe Bridge, CR and PS too. I also need to upgrade the RAM to the full 2gb ASAP - as it can be a little laggy in Aperture and Lightroom with some of the bigger pics.... I'm still "training" the battery - but that should be sorted soon enough. In contrast the battery life seems shorter than my M60's - which is a little dissapointing.<br /><br />Anyway so picture editing and album creation should be a cinch with this new portable. Showing off portrait sessions and weddings on this is going to be great with the remote.... I bought the TV output cable with it at the same time so it should have no hassles connecting this to pretty much anything from TV's to HD projectors.<br /><br />All in all - the things that could be improved upon from my early impression is battery life, the speakers, and heat...
